DS-707 Canada Three Seater Sofa by Philippe Malouin for DeSede

The DS-707, a contemporary furniture masterpiece skillfully handcrafted in Switzerland, embodies the creative vision of the British-Canadian designer, Philippe Malouin. With a bachelor's degree from Design Academy Eindhoven and a background in design education at prestigious institutions like the École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle in Paris and the University of Montreal, Philippe's expertise and creativity shine through in the DS-707.

This unique furniture piece, designed by Malouin, artfully combines handmade leather craftsmanship and modern design. Available in two primary configurations, a comfortable armchair and a modular sofa, the DS-707's versatility allows for flexible arrangements that harmonize with a variety of room layouts. Its striking aesthetics, inspired by the postmodern era of Swiss furniture design and the utilitarian principles of brutalism, make it a standout addition to any space.

In addition to its commitment to form and function, the DS-707 underscores sustainability with its responsible material usage and ethical manufacturing practices. The introduction of a corner element further enhances its silhouette, providing opportunities for flexible interior design. As a testament to Malouin's creativity, the DS-707 stands as an exemplary piece within his diverse portfolio, which includes a wide range of items, such as sofas, tables, rugs, chairs, lights, art objects, and installations. With renowned clients like Flos, HEM, Ishinomaki, Iittala, De Sede, SCP, Established & Sons, and Marsotto Edizioni, Philippe's impact on contemporary design is evident.

The DS-707 is not only a reflection of Philippe's design expertise but also a nod to his recognition in the design world. His artistic practice is represented by Salon 94 Design Gallery in New York City, and The Breeder Gallery in Athens, showcasing his innovative design concepts. Awarded the Wallpaper* Magazine 'Designer of the Year' title, Philippe's creative journey is an inspiration, and his role as President of the Jury at Villa Noaille's "Design Parade" in France underscores his influence in the design industry. Based in London, Philippe's design studio operates as a hub for his continued innovative exploration in the field. In essence, the DS-707 is a symbol of his vision, marrying Swiss craftsmanship with contemporary design sensibilities, and serving as a unique highlight in the world of modern interior design.
